Senator flags $1.3 billion as gov't waste

Every once in a while a small voice is heard. This time it is Sen. Tom Coburn, who posted his yearly list of wasteful government spending.

This list makes great reading. My personal favorite item on the list is 9.4 million to search for E.T. I suspect if we really looked at federal, state, and city budgets we could have a ball saving money and cutting spending.

However, the press will call the report silly and call senator Coburn's action grandstanding. Getting called names for doing the correct think is a sign of our times. I for one will send my thanks for at least trying to do the right thing.

Can one small voice make a difference any more?
