We're so proud!

Several reasons why Sam Adams need to resign.

1) Having sex with an intern no mater what the age or sex is wrong. We will never know why the young man had sex with Mr. Adams even though both say it was consensual. What if the young man thought Mr. Adams could get him a great job with the city. Perhaps the young man though if he didn't have sex it would affect his ability to get a job. Perhaps the young man thought he could blackmail Mr. Adams about the relationship. Perhaps the young man was enamored with Mr. Adams position on City Council. Or perhaps it was consensual.

People in power should never have relationships with underlings, interns, people that report to them or might gain benefit from the relationship. Doing so shows Mr. Adams poor decision making ability.

2) Asking the young man to lie about the relationship again was very poor decisions by Mr. Adams.

3) Lying about the relationship knowing the truth would eventually come out was again a very poor decision.

Mr. Adams arrogance in thinking he is above the truth and he didn't have to be honest about the relationship shows a serious character flaw and is that what we want in our mayor. Mr. Adams has again put Portland in the national press in a bad way.

It is time for Mr. Adams to resign and allow Portland to get on with business.

China blocks access to New York Times Web site, paper says

How smart our founding fathers were when they wrote the "bill of rights " and included freedom of speech.

How sad that this most basic of rights is not available to everyone.

Senator flags $1.3 billion as gov't waste

Every once in a while a small voice is heard. This time it is Sen. Tom Coburn, who posted his yearly list of wasteful government spending.

This list makes great reading. My personal favorite item on the list is 9.4 million to search for E.T. I suspect if we really looked at federal, state, and city budgets we could have a ball saving money and cutting spending.

However, the press will call the report silly and call senator Coburn's action grandstanding. Getting called names for doing the correct think is a sign of our times. I for one will send my thanks for at least trying to do the right thing.

Can one small voice make a difference any more?

Darn that Jason

June 20th, 2008, OSTM /Jason2 launched from Vandenburf Air Force base on a mission to monitor and continue charting sea levels, a vital indicator of global climate change. World wide celebration that this new and modern satellite will prove the damage of Man Made global warming.

The much anticipated data is coming in, new proof that the climate worldwide is changing. We are in the start of a 20 to 30 year cooling phace caused by
Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)

This new and amazing discovery will certainly challenge or at least question the man-made global warming debate. That is if they actually hear about it or the press covers this discovery. For some reason the press coverage of the natural cycles of climate change are less interesting than the doom and gloom of man made global warming.

Top Scientists say Global Warming is a lie?

UN Blowback: More Than 650 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims

Every once in awhile you run across an article that makes you scratch your head and question common beliefs. If you talk to the person on the street, (or Al Gore) we are all doomed. We are going to die from a horrible death caused by global warming. And of course man is the cause of global warming, everyone knows that!

I am not a scientist. I don't make a living selling one view or another. I am forced to try to research points of view and their supporting data.

I do have a basic belief that the sun provides the energy we need to stay alive. Without the sun planet Earth turns into an ice cube in about 20 minutes. I don't believe in harming our beloved planet with pollution or waste and we should use energy as the valuable recourse it is. Wasting energy because we can is wrong.

I have always struggled with concept of man creating global warming however I try to read almost everything I can with an open mind. Of course there has been climate change because 13000 years ago much of eastern Washington was covered by glaciers during the Great Ice Age.

So is man affecting the rate of Global climate change? After reading this article and supporting data, I think not!

What will historians write about Governor Blagojevich?

Governor Blagojevich had an opportunity to do good for his state. Make a true difference for the State of Illinois, especially in these tough times. However, all he thought about was what is in it for me.

My thoughts tonight are not really on Governor Blagojevich, but for his kids. So sad that he never contemplated on how his horrible acts might effect his children.

State of Oregon, just do something

Dear State Of Oregon:

Another Pit Bull attack in the news. Is it the dogs fault, the owners, the breeders or the breed? I am not sure and I really don't care.

Owners of aggressive breeds need to be responsible and if they will not, we need to mandate changes. Here are a few options, pick at least one or two or add some of your own. Please do something.

Mandatory owners liability insurance
Aggression testing
Mandatory owner and dog training
Stronger leash and fence laws
Microchip all dogs and track ownership
Breeder tracking and licensing
Increased county license fees where the more aggressive the breed the higher the license.
Fines or jail time for owners who don't control their dogs.
Only 1 aggressive dog per family

Cold Hard Cash

Today, Democratic Rep. William Jefferson lost re-election for his congregational seat. If memory serves me correct, the FBI found $90,000 in cold hard cash in his freezer. This was reported as "alleged bribery money". His trial was delayed and he has been acting like he did nothing wrong while running for re-election.

It is very interested that Speaker Pelosi allowed him to maintain his position on the Homeland Security Committee while waiting for his trial. It must have been Jefferson's ability to handle large sums of cash that Pelosi believed quantified him to keep that committee position.

It is also curious that it has been 2 1/2 years since FBI found the cash in Rep Jeffersons Freezer and he hasn't gone to trial yet.

Will he go to trial faster now that he has lost his election?

Mumbai 2008

Lots of questions will be asked about this act of terrorism. I have a few of my own.

Will this change hotel and resort security world wide the way 9-11 changed air travel? How soon before these videos are taken off the air and we all loose interest in this? Will these two nuclear rivals work together is the global war against terrorism?

The price of a bargin

Is saving a few bucks on new X-Box or PlayStation so important? I found it interesting that during the interview this newscaster blames Walmart for not providing more security. Let's not blame the crazy people who wouldn't help these people up off the ground.

I understand that thought. The opportunity to get a new LCD TV at a good deal is certainly worth shoving, shouting and stepping on anyone who is in my way.
